ALAN TURING AND HIS IMPACT ON SOCIETY
“Sometimes it is the people no one can imagine anything of who do the things no one can imagine.”
INQUEST ON TURING TEST
With this google form, we have attempted to make another Turing test. Indeed, our video only allowed us to make a test with one individual and we wanted to be able to see whether or not other AIs could pass the Turing test using a larger sample of individuals.
To do so, we have sent to people discussions that had happened between either a person and a machine or two people
THIS CONVERSATION WAS BETWEEN 2 PEOPLE

THIS CONVERSATION WAS BETWEEN AN AI AND A PERSON

We can see, based on the results, that none of the AIs passed the Turing test. Indeed, for a machine to pass the Turing test 1/3 of testers have to have said it was a human being. In our questions, conversations 2 and 4 were with AIs. In conversation 2, only 20,4% of people said they thought it was a human, which makes this AI only 13% short of passing the Turing test. Moreover, regarding the conversation 4, only 10,2% believed it was a human.
However, like for the video, we can see that rare were the people who were sure of the answer they gave. Therefore, this shows us that though none of the AIs passed the test, they are extremely close to passing it. In the near future, we might have access to AIs that have intelligence as powerful as one of a human.
